The challenge
Our system review revealed overlapping platforms and legacy processes, which led to duplication, escalating costs, and operational risk. We led the decommissioning of coordinating multi-party data migration, and embedded strong governance frameworks. The result? Smarter health decisions and trusted reporting, enabled by a streamlined system environment with cloud-based data foundations.
Adelaide Primary Health Network (APHN) was operating within MasterCare, a complex and ageing digital environment overlapping platforms and duplicated processes created inefficiency limited APHN’s ability to manage information effectively. This led compliance risks, made consistent and reliable reporting difficult and was costly to maintain – with no real benefit in addition to escalating maintenance costs and significant technical debt.
We partnered with APHN to rationalise its systems, simplify workflows, and establish stronger governance so its data could be trusted and used to support smarter health decisions.
How we helped
Conducted a comprehensive IT architecture and process review to identify overlapping platforms, duplicated effort, and high-cost legacy systems.
Recommended and led the decommissioning of MasterCare, addressing significant technical debt and removing a major source of duplication and risk.
Results that matter
Speed – Legacy decommissioning and streamlined processes reduced delays in system operations and reporting cycles.
Accuracy - Multi-party data migration was delivered with strong privacy assurance and validation, maintaining integrity across all providers.
Consistency - A federated practice management environment and a new Data Governance Framework standardised how data is captured, managed, and reported.
Transparency - Clearer governance structures and board-level reporting frameworks created greater visibility over platform use and performance.
Trust - By removing duplication and embedding national standards into governance, APHN improved confidence in data ownership and decision-making.
Efficiency - Cloud-first architecture, continuity plans, and rationalised systems reduced cost, risk, and technical debt while enabling scalable future growth.
